Join GMU TTAC, virtually, this summer for Region 4’s 3-Day UBW Summer Series! This engaging professional learning opportunity is designed to expand and enrich the instructional practices you already bring to the classroom. Together, we will explore practical strategies for teaching multisyllabic word reading and spelling through the six syllable types and meaningful word parts. Participants will deepen their understanding of how decoding, encoding, and comprehension work together to support students as they read and write multisyllabic words with confidence.

GMU TTAC will host engaging synchronous sessions where we’ll explore how educators can effectively leverage AI in their practice. Every session is built on a demonstration-to-application model, ensuring you leave with new skills already at work in your teaching.

Purpose: To discuss AT related issues, share ideas and resources, problem solve and network.

Community of Leaders in Autism (CoLA)
Purpose: Provides learning boosts, resources, and professional networking for selected Region 4 Autism Leaders.
Who: 2 to 3 representatives selected by each school division
When: Monthly during the school year and one state conference

Dyslexia Advisors Community of Practice
Purpose: Provides timely and relevant professional learning to implement instruction for students with dyslexia within VLA implementation, including resources and professional networking for Region 4 dyslexia advisors.
Who: Region 4 educators serving in the role of dyslexia advisor and have identified themselves to the VDOE

Excellence in Co-Teaching
Purpose: Sessions are facilitated by TTACs to share best practices and resources on specific topics related to co-planning, co-instructing, co-assessing and SDI.

Indicator 13 Bootcamp - Writing Effective Transition Plans for Students with Disabilities
Purpose: To strengthen the understanding and implementation of effective transition planning aligned with Indicator 13.
Who: Secondary special education teachers

Math Directors Community of Practice
Purpose: To exchange information and best practices, including practices for students with disabilities.
Who: Region 4 Math Directors and Co-Directors
When: Quarterly and two in-person full day workshops per year

Orton Gillingham Community of Practice
Purpose: Supports Region 4 educators in professional knowledge of evidence-based learning practices and processes through collaboration, resource sharing, and reflection in regard to the Orton Gillngham methodology.
Who: Region 4 educators providing Orton Gillingham instruction and have been trained by the VDOE
When: Seasonal CoPs and bi-monthly office hours

Transition Professionals Community of Practice
Purpose: Supports education professionals to learn, improve, and generate new knowledge of transition related practices and processes through collaboration, sharing, and reflection.
Who: Transition Coordinators, special education and general education teachers, administrators, specialists (i.e., OT, PT, school counselor)

Purpose: Provides learning boosts, resources and professional networking on priority topics identified by Region 4 VESOL educators.

Virginia Public School Behavior Analyst Network (VAPSBAN)
