Planning a Comprehensive Program for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders:Using Evidenced-Based Practices in the Classroom Shawn Henry, M.S., Ruth Aspy, Ph.D. & Barry Grossman, Ph.D.

This event is sponsored by Commonwealth Autism Service and The Virginia Department of Education Training and Technical Assistance Centers (T/TAC’s)

This two day workshop held in Charlottesville, Virginia will present information on using evidence based practices in the classroom for students with ASD. Presenters Barry Grossman, Ph.D., Ruth Aspy, Ph.D, and Shawn Henry M.S. will provide an overview and implementation information on the Ziggurat and CAPs models which can be readily implemented within general and special education classrooms. Specifically, participants will identify autism spectrum disorder characteristics that impact learning, match appropriate interventions to student needs,identify research-based intervention strategies appropriate to specific students, list five areas necessary for comprehensive intervention, and use a variety of assessment tools and instructional planning resources associated with the CAPs and Ziggurat models. This two day workshop will equip professionals involved in the education of students with ASD for success.
